Every day I wake up and it's Sunday
Whatever's in my eye won't go away
The radio is playing all the usual
And what's a Wonderwall anyway
Because my inside is outside
My right side's on my left side
Cause I'm writing to reach you now but
I might never reach you
Only want to teach you
About you
But that's not you
It's good to know that you are home for Christmas
It's good to know that you are doing well
It's good to know that you all know I'm hurting
It's good to know I'm feeling not so well
Because my inside is outside
My right side's on my left side
Cause I'm writing to reach you now but
I might never reach you
Only want to teach you
About you
But that's not you
Do you know it's true
But that won't do
Maybe then tomorrow will be Monday
And whatever's in my eye should go away
But still the radio is playing all the usual
And what's a Wonderwall anway
Because my inside is outside
My right side's on my left side
Cause I'm writing to reach you now but
I might never reach you
Only want to teach you
About you
But that's not you
Do you know it's true
But that won't do
And you know it's you
I'm talking to
The radio is playing all the usual
And what's a Wonderwall anyway
Because my inside is outside
My right side's on my left side
Cause I'm writing to reach you now but
I might never reach you
Only want to teach you

What do you guys think the song is about? Is it about a break up? Or did he jus woke up on the wrong side of bed...and what IS the wonderwall that he is referring to?

A break up seems more likely than waking up on the wrong side of the bed.
"Whatever's in my eye won't go away"
Some people don't like to cry, or they don't like to admit to crying.
Usually, people will excuse themselves by saying they have dirt in their eyes, or 'something got caught in my eye'.
"Because my inside is outside
My right side's on my left side"
When you make someone your everything, losing them is all that much harder and you feel like there's something wrong with you.
It's more than just a physical description of aches and pains, it's a feeling of grief, and of loss.
"Only want to teach you
About you
But that's not you"
The protagonist probably means to 'teach you about you' by loving that person.
Teaching them what a wonderful person they are, that they should learn to love themselves.
But it isn't what that person wants; maybe she can't accept the protagonist's overwhelming feelings for her.
Reminds me a little of Plain White T's 'Shine'.
"But still the radio is playing all the usual
And what's a Wonderwall anyway"
He's probably referring to Oasis's Wonderwall. If so, then I can quote "Because maybe, You're gonna be the one who saves me. And after all, You're my wonderwall."
From this, it probably means someone who gives you a lot of support, like a wall you can always lean on.
The 'wonder' part comes from how much strength that person is able to give, time and time again.
So much so that it never fails to amaze you.
Sorry if this sounds like a summarised Literature essay, HA-HA! (:
i think the song is about someone not being loved, and that he/she is experiencing a one-sided love.
Very detailed analysis, Hanim. I love your comment 'It's more than just a physical description of aches and pains, it's a feeling of grief, and of loss.' That kinda nails it...
Yea Qimin, ditto with you on that...
Personally, i think the song is the feelings of the writer as he recalls about a person whom he misses very much ( a loved one perhaps? someone whom he misses dearly and has passed on?a person whom he has a relationship with but does not acknowledge him?).
The wonderwall mentioned is perhaps what's life all about:))
The writer has feelings of doubt how to continue his life without that particular person who means a whole lot to him.
Fiona.
I think its a song about writing songs.
Inside on the outside;he is expressing his feelings and emotions in his music, although it might never actually connect with the listeners and they will just brush it off.
The wonderwall refrence is cuz the chords in the song are from wonderwall
